There’s something especially meaningful about photographing couples in the season right before everything changes. When the excitement is building, the nerves are minimal, and the joy feels light and unfiltered. Kyra and Parker’s engagement session at the Felt Estate was exactly that. Full of movement, laughter, and effortless connection, this session was such a beautiful glimpse into who they are together as they plan their 2026 wedding.

As a Grand Rapids wedding photographer, I’m always drawn to locations that offer variety, timeless architecture, and space to simply be. The Felt Estate delivers all of that and more, making it one of my favorite spots for engagement photos near Holland, Michigan.

A Dreamy Engagement Session at the Felt Estate

Kyra and Parker immediately set the tone for the session — relaxed, playful, and completely themselves. From the moment we started near the mansion, their connection felt natural and unforced. Rather than stiff poses, we focused on movement: walking hand-in-hand, laughing mid-conversation, and letting moments unfold organically.

The historic mansion provided an elegant, romantic backdrop with its stone textures and grand staircases, while still feeling approachable and warm. It’s one of the reasons I love recommending the Felt Estate to couples looking for Holland engagement photo locations that feel elevated but not overly formal.

Fountain, Chapel, and Golden Hour Fields

We made our way around the grounds, stopping at some of the most iconic spots on the estate:

  • The fountain, where Kyra and Parker shared quiet moments balanced with bursts of laughter

  • The chapel, which added a soft, timeless feel to their images

  • The open fields and grounds, where the session really came alive as the sun dipped lower

That golden hour glow wrapped everything in warmth, giving us those effortlessly romantic, sun-soaked frames that feel nostalgic and true to life. Watching Kyra and Parker run through the fields, carefree and fully present, was one of those reminders of why engagement sessions matter so much- they capture love exactly as it is right now.

Why the Felt Estate Is One of My Favorite Holland Engagement Photo Locations

For couples searching for engagement photos near Holland or West Michigan, the Felt Estate is hard to beat. It offers:

  • A mix of architecture and nature

  • Beautiful light throughout the day

  • Space to move, explore, and feel comfortable

Whether you want something elegant, playful, or a mix of both, this location adapts beautifully to each couple’s energy and style.

My Approach as a Grand Rapids Photographer

My approach to photography is rooted in connection and experience. I’ll always guide you when needed, but I never want your session to feel overly posed or awkward. Instead, I focus on creating space for real interaction — the in-between moments, natural laughter, and quiet glances that make your story uniquely yours.

As a Grand Rapids photographer specializing in weddings, engagements, and family sessions, my goal is for your images to feel timeless, romantic, and honest - photographs that bring you back to how it felt, not just how it looked.
