The celebration began the night before the wedding with a rehearsal dinner at the boathouse on the Bay Pointe property, overlooking Gun Lake at sunset. Bay Pointe offers two distinct venue experiences — one lakeside at the inn and another tucked into the woods — and Jenn and Jared thoughtfully incorporated both into their weekend.
Their rehearsal dinner took place at the lakeside house available to rent on the property, creating an intimate, welcoming atmosphere with stunning waterfront views. It was the perfect way for their closest friends and family to gather, relax, and kick off the weekend.
A Lush Summer Wedding at Bay Pointe Woods
On the wedding day, the celebration moved to Bay Pointe Woods, where Jenn and Jared got ready in one of the cozy, on-site cottages before heading into their ceremony and reception spaces. The woods side of Bay Pointe offers a completely different feel — lush, green, and tucked away — making it ideal for couples who want a nature-forward setting with a seamless guest experience.
Despite the heat of a true Michigan summer day, Jenn and Jared kept the energy light and joyful. We took intentional breaks during portraits to cool down indoors, hydrate, and keep everyone comfortable — a small detail that made a big difference in how relaxed the day felt.
A Rainy Curveball (Handled Perfectly)
One of the most memorable moments of the day came when a heavy downpour hit right at the planned ceremony time. Instead of panicking, Jenn and Jared embraced flexibility with the best possible attitude.
Working closely with the planning team, they made the call to swap the ceremony and cocktail hour. Since the rain was only expected to last about 30–60 minutes, this simple change allowed guests to stay dry and comfortable — and still gave Jenn and Jared the outdoor ceremony they truly wanted.
The result? A smooth, stress-free transition that felt intentional rather than rushed, and a ceremony that was absolutely worth the wait. It was a perfect example of how adaptability and a great team can completely transform a potential challenge into a win.
